When I first went to Oahu it was OK, but the second and especially the third time I was totally nauseated with all the obnoxious зазывалы and sales people. I know it's geared toward tourists, but I didn't enjoy it at all. The beaches are certainly nice, but over the past several years I've decided that I don't really enjoy beach vacations, and especially not in such commercialized places. Sorry, don't mean to rain on your parade, Oahu certainly has some lovely places and I hope you have the chance to get off the beaten path - if you don't want to rent a car there are busses that go all around the island. Getting outside of Honolulu was the nicest thing I did that last trip.
