I'm good with all of this, and it's clearly working out for him. But I know of cases of homeschooling where the parents want to do it out of their own (frequently misguided) convictions, regardless of the kids' aptitude. I don't think this is for every kid. And I'm not good with the fact that this paradigm calls for religion/spirituality.
My in-laws homeschool their kids - I don't know if it's making them very smart, I haven't had a chance to assess that, but it's definitely not good for their socialization. They do see other kids, but it's in sports or church, and I don't think that gives a good variety of format.
